Truth is...there really is no story behind this one. I wrote this in about three minutes in my office during some down time one day. Themes of a dirt road, an angelic soul and the afterlife are conjured up in an old time gospel feeling number. The melody just sort of stuck.
ride this ribbon of dirt
plank road angel fly
ride this ribbon of dirt
will I meet you when I die?

roll on ramble and crawl
where she used to roam
roll on ramble and crawl
for the highway was her home
ride this ribbon of dirt
plank road angel fly
ride this ribbon of dirt
will I meet you when I die?

pray she'll suffer no more
say goodbye my love
pray she'll suffer no more
on the wings of snow white doves
ride this ribbon of dirt
plank road angel fly
ride this ribbon of dirt
will I meet you when I die?

roll on ramble and crawl
shed your prairie skin
roll on ramble and crawl
sweet darling rise again
ride this ribbon of dirt
plank road angel fly
ride this ribbon of dirt
will I meet you when I die?
will I meet you when I die?
